Our model of learning allows students to participate from anywhere with an internet connection and can provide flexibility for those who cannot attend traditional in-person classes. Virtual learning can offer students many advantages such as allowing students to work at their own pace and on their own schedule. This can be especially helpful for students who have other commitments or need to balance their learning with other activities.

VLAC partners with local public school districts. Students remain enrolled in the local district. Students apply to attend VLAC and we obtain permission from your enrolling district so that you can begin the program. Applying to attend VLAC is easy! Families begin the process by entering basic information into our online application system. The online application process takes about 10 minutes to complete.

In a word: relationships. The relationship between students and teachers is what allows students to feel supported throughout their learning journey with VLAC. VLAC provides a high quality curriculum, materials and technology but our teachers ensure students' learning needs are met and they are successful in the program.
Guaranteed Easy Onboarding
Once you make the decision to join VLAC, and we secure your school district authorization, our staff makes it easy to begin the program.
Students and Families participate in a comprehensive orientation. During the orientation, you will have guidance in signing in to the platforms and applications used in the program. Over years of experience, our teachers have developed expertise to teach exactly what is needed for students to log-in and begin learning.
Students and Families work with one VLAC staff member in order to learn about the program. Having a single point of contact allows ease in knowing exactly where to go in order to solve. Teachers are available to meet with students and families for program assistance every day by appointment.
Students with IEP’s work directly with the VLAC Special Populations Consultant to coordinate virtual services. It is highly recommended that prior to students transitioning to VLAC the enrolling district. We also ensure that the IEP team understands their role in continuing special education services for students.
Oakland Schools Service Desk supports VLAC students and devices. Staff ensure your device is delivered and arrange for pick up upon completion of the program. If students experience technical difficulties with equipment, they are an easy phone call away from kind, professional, and swift technology support.
